What We Do

The mission of the National Society Daughter of the American Revolution is to promote historic preservation, education and patriotism.

Our chapter meetings consist of a short business session and a program which meets one or all of the objectives to the national society. After each meeting is a short social period with pie and coffee.

Historic Preservation: Every member starts her personal historic preservation with the Daughters of the American Revolution by documenting her lineal descent from a patriot of the American Revolution. Chapter genealogy days are held at the Huntington Beach Public Library to assist prospective members with research and application procedures. Contact our Registrar for reservation information.

Our members contribute towards preservation projects such as marking revolutionary soldier’s graves, assisting with indexing and recording genealogical research books and contributing to national DAR projects.

Education: Our educational programs held at each regular meeting are always a learning experience for the members. Programs range from American History, Women’s Issues to commemorating historic events as Hawaii’s 50th anniversary of statehood with a luau and Hawaiian dancers.

The chapter contributes funds and collects box tops for education and Campbell soup labels for our DAR schools. We have adopted a 6th - 7th grade math class at the Kate Duncan Smith DAR School in Grant, Alabama.

In an effort to promote literacy, members conduct a yearly children’s book drive for donation to the University Park Public Library.

Patriotism: The members of Irvine Ranch Chapter promote patriotism by honoring our veterans through various ceremonies we attend, marching in parades in period clothing, collecting worn American Flags from the general public and participating in flag retirement ceremonies. Handing out hundreds of hand held flags and flag codes at fairs and festivals are a part of every public event.

Spreading the American Spirit is the heart of the Irvine Ranch Chapter. Everyone is welcome to attend our meetings and witness the many other activities of our chapter and its members. For reservation information contact Shirley Arendt.
