Adopted Service Member
Meet Aaron & Sabrina Hall… Gold Trail’s adopted service member and his wife. Both of the Halls are graduates of Rocklin High School and past members of ROTC.
Aaron is serving his second tour in Iraq. He has 36 members in his squad and we provide lots of items from home… even tooth brushes, tooth paste, and floss… to make up for all the sweets! Yes, we are all mothers at heart!

Tamassee DAR School
 Tamassee, South Carolina
In a disadvantaged area, where public education is not accessible, we serve thousands of eager students from pre-school through college who need a place to learn to fulfill their potential.
- Gold Trail sponsored numerous raffles to raise funding for the school
- We provided financial support
- Sent personal Christmas Cards and Valentine Cards to every student
- Our Regent serves on the Tamassee DAR School Board
Friends of the Library
Our ladies had a grand time making the invitations for the 17th annual Fashion Show and Luncheon fundraiser for the library. With our assistance the event raised over $18,000 for the library!
Other Library projects included:
- Organized and managed community book drive
- Donated hundreds of books to Veterans
- Reading and mentoring
- Computer training
History Teacher of the Year
John Welch Outstanding Teacher of American History
John Welch is the Outstanding Teacher of American History chosen by the Gold Trail Chapter this year. Mr. Welch is an American History teacher at Oakmont High School in Roseville. He was chosen because of his strong commitment to providing outstanding history instruction to his students while fostering respect and interest in history.
John has a Master of Arts in Military Studies and a Bachelor of Arts in Social Science. He teaches American History, Introduction to War Gaming, the Vietnam War, and Advanced Placement U.S. History, Economics, and Government. He serves as the Department Chair for Social Studies at Oakmont High School. He is active in the California Council on Social Studies and a member of the Sons of the American Revolution, Gold Country Chapter.
Outstanding Citizens of the Year
John Piches and Leonard “Duke” Davis both received the Community Service Award. On hand to commend the two was District I Supervisor Rocky Rockholm.
Conservation Award
Honored with the Conservation Award were the Gold Country Wild Life Rescue Volunteers. Margaret Ahrendt presented the award to Aaron Bendavid, Sherry Bast, Spud the Great Horned Owl, and Lizzy the Raccoon.
