We are delighted that you are interested in DAR, and we welcome
you to the web site of the Santa Lucia
Chapter. We are located in Salinas, California, the
seat of Monterey County, often referred to as “Steinbeck
Country,” or “America’s Salad Bowl." Most of our members live in
various communities of the Salinas Valley, but we also have some
long-distance members who enjoy maintaining ties to this
chapter.
You will find us to be a warm, friendly group of women,
representing a wide variety of ages, professions, and talents.
Some of our members are dedicated homemakers, mothers, and
grandmothers. Some work or are retired from careers as
librarians, teachers, speech therapists, and even one who
assists with Homeland Security. We welcome inquiries and look
forward to meeting our visitors.
DAR is a remarkable group of women. It was incorporated by an
Act of Congress in 1896 and currently has over 168,000 members
in 3,000 chapters around the world. For more information about
the National Society of the Daughters of the American
Revolution, please visit:
