| DAR Chapters There are 2,989 DAR chapters in all 50 states and the District of Columbia. The overseas units include Australia (2), Canada (4), France (1), Italy (2), Mexico (1), Spain (1), United Kingdom (2) and Japan (1). The current membership of the organization is about 176,732 with 785,814 women joining since 1890. |
| Headquarters in
Washington, D.C. The historic NSDAR headquarters is in Washington, D.C. and is housed in three adjoining structures which include the Memorial Continental Hall (1905), DAR Constitution Hall (1929) and the Administration Building (1920, 1950). These are the only buildings in Washington, D.C. that are owned by women. |
| Organization The National Board of Management includes 12 Executive Officers, 21 Vice Presidents General and 54 State Regents. Regular meetings are held in February, April and October with special meetings called to order in June and December. The DAR Continental Congress (convention) is held annually. |
| DAR Library Materials in genealogy and relevant local history are housed in the DAR Library established in 1896. Included in the collection are 145,000 books, unpublished genealogy manuscripts and genealogical periodicals. The public is welcome, and no fee is charged. |
