Malibu proudly contributes to a variety of projects in support of veterans and the nation's active military.

Our own WWII veteran, Marj Dukatz, coordinates the chapter's annual "Women in the Military Luncheon." The 2008 event was the eleventh consecutive celebration, featuring DAR California State Corresponding Secretary Ann Zuhr's oral history of her military mom. As always, an enthusiastic group of veterans from WWII, Korea, the Cold War, and Viet Nam attended.

Marj also gathers chapter donations of comfort items, books, and tapes for the West Los Angeles Veterans Hospital, and she leads the chapter's longstanding support of the Trident Squadron Sea Cadets at Pt. Mugu.

And for years, the Malibu Chapter has participated vigorously in a nationwide project called "Operation Paperback." Through this group, the Chapter Librarian sends frequent boxes of books donated by chapter members to our overseas military personnel, providing classic literature, instructional materials, and novels, as well as filling specific book requests.
