A DAR Recognized Web Site

Welcome!

The Letitia Coxe Shelby Chapter was formed on October 21, 1949, with Mrs. Enoch E. Simms as Organizing Regent.  Letitia Coxe Shelby, for whom the chapter is named, was the wife of Brig. General Evan Shelby of Virginia, and Mrs. Simms is one of their direct descendants.  Letitia and Evan's son, Isaac, became the first Governor of Kentucky.

We welcome any woman for membership who is over 18 years of age and who is descended from a man or woman who aided in achieving American Independence during the period between April 19, 1775, and November 26, 1783.  For information on membership in the DAR, please click here.  Note: To return to the Letitia Coxe Shelby web site, please click the back button on your browser.

The main objectives of our chapter are to perpetuate the memory and spirit of the men and women who achieved American Independence, and to cherish, maintain, and extend American History, Education, and Patriotism.  Our meetings are held on the second Friday of the month, September through June.  We would love to have you join us!
