Chapter National Society Daughters of the American Revolution
Placerville, California
El Dorado Chapter was
founded in the Fall of 1978 by Emily Hestler Ross, a Past Vice Regent of the
Patience Wright Chapter of Laguna Beach, California. The first official
meeting, consisting of twenty members, was held on October 12, 1978, in the
home of Gloria Miserlian. Emily passed away May 29, 1989, after serving 58
years as a DAR member. Her great heritage and her book of essays, Let Us Not
Forget, will serve as a memorial to El Dorado, the "Golden One"
Chapter.
Meetings
Chapter meetings are held on the second Wednesday of the month, September through June, in Placerville.
Please contact our 1st Vice Regent Viki Lovell or our chapter registrar Bonnie Battaglia for more information.
Each regular meeting
includes devotions, patriotic exercises, chapter project updates, and
presentations on patriotic, historic or educational topics.
Activities
The El Dorado Chapter
proudly engages in many local activities in the spirit of the DAR mission. In
addition to supporting DAR sponsored schools, we promote patriotism by
distributing flags flown over our nation's capital to new schools and Scout
troops in El Dorado County; sponsor school essay contests on American History
topics; recognize community volunteers who have rendered outstanding services
to our community, promote literacy by participating in book drives; and support
many other endeavors that promote pride in our American heritage.
