COLONEL WILLIAM CABELL CHAPTER

Newport Beach, California

of the

NATIONAL SOCIETY of the DAUGHTERS OF THE AMERICAN REVOLUTION

"...Seek the perpetuation of the noblest and best for America's present and future."

Welcome to the Newport Beach Chapter homepage. Our chapter was organized in the Fall of 1949 by Mrs.Charles K.Boardman, spurred on by Mrs.Thomas Kennedy. Twenty-four women became charter members. The name of Col.William Cabell was chosen to honor the distinguished ancestor of two chapter charter members of that time. Col William Cabell was one of four men, of a Committee of Safety, who gave outstanding service in civil duties during the Revolutionary War.

Current activities of the Colonel William Cabell Chapter

Meetings are held once a month, Sept. through May.

We usually have interesting speakers, most often on historic themes.

A large part of our effort is raising money for Scholarship Awards to high school students.

We also give History awards.

The chapter donates to a nearby Native American tribe.

In addition, we award a conservation medal.
