Welcome!
Welcome to the California State Society DAR.
You are invited to explore our Web site to learn about the California State Society DAR and how you can become a part of this non-profit, non-political women's volunteer service organization.
Organized in 1891, the California State Society has 115 chapters and more than 9,000 members each of whom has traced her direct lineage to a patriot ancestor who aided the American Revolution. Society work is accomplished through committees with members working to promote our objectives of historic preservation, education and patriotism.
Committees for education include DAR scholarships, literacy programs, and conservation projects. DAR opportunities abound for patriotic endeavor including service to veterans and celebration of national holidays. One way study of American history is promoted is through the yearly recognition of elementary students in grades 5 through 8 for participation in the DAR American history essay contest.
